Court interpreter for the Albanian language – documents from Albania and Kosovo
• Albania and Kosovo have different administrative frameworks
• the letters ë and ç are part of the official record of a personal name
• an Albanian document may contain Serbian, English or other parallel content
An Albanian document from Albania and a document from Kosovo can be in the same language, but belong to different administrative frameworks. In addition, personal names with ë and ç and parallel Serbian or English text require a review of the entire document before determining the scope.
An Albanian document can be from Albania or from Kosovo, and the institutional terminology and language arrangement are not always the same. Documents from Kosovo may contain parallel Albanian and Serbian text or additional English elements, so before the offer we review all pages and determine which languages are included in the scope. An overview of related services can be found on the page European languages.
When is a court interpreter needed for the Albanian language?
Most often, birth and marriage certificates, certificates of criminal record, diplomas, employment contracts, court decisions, powers of attorney and residence documents are translated. For personal names, we pay particular attention to the letters ë and ç and the official Latin-script spelling in the passport.

Albania and Kosovo: same language, different issuers and often different language composition of the document
Albanian is used in Albania and Kosovo, but documents differ in institutions, forms and languages that can be present on the same page. In the case of Kosovo, we pay particular attention to whether there is an English text in addition to Albanian and Serbian.
With the Kosovo forms, it is important to determine whether the Albanian and Serbian columns are completely parallel. If they are not, both contents are taken into account separately in the assessment.
Albania
For civil, criminal, educational and business documents from Albania, we check the full name of the issuer, official abbreviations and the record of personal names. We keep the letters ë and ç when they are part of the original official record.
Kosovo
Kosovo documents can be bilingual or multilingual. Before the translation, we determine which parts are in Albanian, whether other languages are a parallel translation or separate information, and which stamps and notes should be included.
Personal names and places
Albanian personal and geographical names may have variant spellings in other languages. For official use, we prefer the form from a passport or other identification document and do not “correct” it according to our own sense of spelling.
Certification of a document from Albania or Kosovo – what to check before ordering
A certified translation for official use is prepared by an appointed permanent court interpreter for Albanian, subject to availability and the receiving authority’s requirements. Before the confirmation, we check the country or area of issue, the letters ë and ç, possible Albanian-Serbian parallel parts, stamps and the record of personal names. If direct certification is unavailable, we do not assume a substitute procedure, but ask for confirmation from the competent authority. Before you order, we also check the number of copies, whether the translation must be attached to the original or a copy, and any Apostille requirements.
Interpretation: Albanian and Croatian in official and business situations
We arrange interpreting for business meetings, appointments with a notary or registrar, conversations with the employer, court and administrative proceedings and other official appointments agreed in advance. For the Albanian language, before booking, we check the variant or regional form when relevant, place, date, duration and topic. If the organiser or competent authority requires the presence of a permanent court interpreter, this should be stated when sending the request.
Apostille and legalisation for a document from Albania or Kosovo
A certified translation and an Apostille serve different purposes. Legalisation requirements depend on where the document was issued, where it will be used and the receiving authority. Before ordering, check whether you need the original or a certified copy, and whether legalisation must come before translation. You can find practical advice in our Apostille guide.
What we check before confirming the Albanian translation
Before quoting, we check three things in particular: Albania and Kosovo have different administrative frameworks; the letters ë and ç are part of the official record of the personal name; an Albanian document may contain Serbian, English or other parallel content. We then confirm the scope, source and target languages, available form of certification, total price, deadline and delivery arrangements. Your quote reflects the actual work involved, rather than an estimate based only on page count.
What to send for an accurate assessment of a document from Albania or Kosovo
- Send a readable PDF or photos of the entire document for Albanian translation, with visible edges, stamps and signatures.
- Specify the source and target languages, the country of issue, the purpose of use, the requested deadline and information about the certification. In particular, we will check the country or area of issue, the letters ë and ç, possible Albanian-Serbian parallel parts, seals and the record of personal names.
- After the review, we confirm the scope of the Albanian translation, the availability of a suitable translator or a permanent court interpreter, the method of certification, the price, the deadline and delivery.
- Once you accept our quote, we translate the document and check the language and details before delivery. We agree in advance whether you need a digital file, a paper copy or both.
What affects the price and deadline of document translation from Albania or Kosovo?
The price of a written translation is mostly influenced by the amount of text, topic expertise, legibility, stamps, source and target languages, certification and deadline. Duration, location, preparation and travel expenses are important for interpreting. Bilingual Kosovo forms or documents with multiple stamps may increase the scope and need for additional language verification. We state the exact amount and deadline only after reviewing the material and confirming the availability of the appropriate specialist.
