What you need to know
• a Belgian document can be in Dutch, French or German
• Dutch from Belgium and the Netherlands share a language, but not all official names
• tax, labour and social terminology must follow the issuing country

We translate employment, tax, social security, family and business documents between Dutch and Croatian. For certified translation or official interpreting, we check suitable court interpreter availability and the receiving authority’s requirements before confirming the assignment. After reviewing all pages, we provide a quote with the scope, price, turnaround and delivery.

A Belgian document may be in Dutch, French, German or several languages. We identify each language from the actual text and include every relevant section in the assessment.

Dutch documents for work, personal and business procedures

Users most often need translations of employment contracts, employer certificates, tax rulings, proof of insurance, birth and marriage certificates, and educational documents. Companies order extracts from the register, contracts, invoices and technical documentation. For official submissions in Croatia or abroad, you should check in advance whether a certified translation is required.

  • Tax, pension and social security certificates
  • Birth and marriage certificates and residence certificates
  • Diplomas, school certificates and professional qualification certificates
  • Extracts from business registers, contracts and financial documents
  • Court decisions, powers of attorney and notarial documents

The list includes the most frequently asked questions, but is not exhaustive. You can also send another type of document for a Dutch translation, we pay particular attention to whether the document is from the Netherlands or Belgium and whether it also contains French or German parts.

Dutch in the Netherlands and Belgium: the language is the same, the systems are not

The Belgian document is not automatically in Dutch; it can be French, German or multilingual. The language is determined by the actual text and the issuing authority, not just by the place of issue.

Certification of a Dutch document for official use

A certified translation for official use is prepared by an appointed permanent court interpreter for Dutch, subject to availability and the receiving authority’s requirements. We check the language on each page, translation direction and required number of copies. If direct certification is unavailable, we seek confirmation from the competent authority. Check attachment to an original or copy and any Apostille requirement before ordering.

Interpreting between Croatian and Dutch according to agreement

We arrange interpreting between Dutch and Croatian for business meetings, appointments with a notary or registrar, court and administrative proceedings and other official appointments agreed in advance. If the organiser or relevant authority requires an appointed permanent court interpreter, please tell us when you enquire. We confirm the booking once we have checked the location, date, duration, subject and any documents needed for preparation.

Apostille and authentication of a Dutch document

Certification and translation certification are not the same procedure. The need for an Apostille is influenced by the origin of the document, the country in which it will be used and the rules of the competent authority. A summary of the questions to be checked can be found in Apostille guide.

Language, data and certification control before the Dutch translation

Your quote clearly sets out the scope, source and target languages, certification, total price, deadline and delivery arrangements. For these documents, we pay particular attention to whether the document is from the Netherlands or Belgium and whether it also contains French or German parts.

How to prepare a Dutch document for translation assessment

  1. Send all pages in their original order, including both sides and any attachments relevant to the Dutch translation.
  2. Tell us the source and target languages, country of issue, intended use, deadline and any certification requirements. For interpreting, include the location, date and expected duration. We pay particular attention to whether the document is from the Netherlands or Belgium and whether it also contains French or German parts.
  3. Before starting, we confirm the source and target languages for the Dutch language, the availability of specialists, all elements that go into the translation and the terms of delivery.
  4. After confirmation, the translation begins, followed by the control of personal data, tags and terminology. The finished material is submitted through the agreed channel.

Price and deadline for translating a Dutch document

For Dutch, document translation and interpreting are priced differently. Translation costs depend on the length and complexity of the document, legibility, stamps, certification and deadline. Interpreting costs depend on the duration, location, preparation and any travel required. The final amount is affected by multilingual parts, tax or social terminology and certification. Your quote sets out the total price, the deadline, the availability of certification and the delivery arrangements.
