Court interpreter for the Armenian language – Armenian script and documents from Armenia

What you need to know
• the Armenian script must be linked to the Latin script in official documents
• Eastern and Western Armenian differ and the actual variant needs to be determined
• personal names and place names can have several Latin forms

We make translations from Armenian to Croatian for civil, legal, educational and business documents. A court interpreter for the Armenian language is contracted after checking the script, variant, source and target languages and the request of the recipient. After reviewing the complete document, we send you a quote covering the scope, total price, deadline and delivery arrangements.

Contemporary documents from Armenia are mostly in Eastern Armenian, while Western Armenian may appear in other communities. Documents may also contain Russian or English text. For personal names, we use the official Latin-script spelling from the passport so that the translation is consistent with other documents. Armenian documents by type of procedure and country of issue

Birth and marriage certificates, certificates of criminal record, diplomas, grade transcripts, court decisions, declarations and powers of attorney are translated. Business users may need contracts, registers and certificates. If the document is submitted to the institution, the request for certification and legalization is checked before the order.

Types of Armenian documents in personal and business cases

  • Birth, marriage and family status certificates
  • Criminal record certificates and administrative decisions
  • Diplomas, certificates and academic transcripts
  • Court decisions, powers of attorney and notarial documents
  • Employment contracts and residence documents
  • Business registers, contracts and financial documents

This list covers commonly requested documents, but is not exhaustive. For the translation of the Armenian language, you can also send another type of document; when reviewing the document, we pay particular attention to the Armenian alphabet, the eastern or western variant, and the matching of the name with the passport.

Eastern and Western Armenian, alphabet and Latin notation of names

Eastern and Western Armenian differ in pronunciation and part of the vocabulary. We check the variant according to the document and the country of issue, especially for unofficial and historical texts.

We do not create the Latin form of the name according to our own pronunciation if there is a passport. If the Russian and Armenian versions of the name differ, we match them with the document used in the process.

Certified Armenian translation – what to check before official submission

A certified translation for official use is prepared by an appointed permanent court interpreter for Armenian, subject to availability and the receiving authority’s requirements. Before accepting the assignment, we check the language variant, the name record and the request of the body to which the translation is submitted. If direct certification is unavailable, we ask the relevant authority to confirm whether an alternative is acceptable. Before you order, we also check the number of copies, whether the translation must be attached to the original or a copy, and any Apostille requirements.

Oral interpretation of the Armenian language for meetings and official procedures

We arrange interpreting between Armenian and Croatian for business meetings, appointments with a notary or registrar, court and administrative proceedings and other official appointments agreed in advance. If the organiser or relevant authority requires an appointed permanent court interpreter, please tell us when you enquire. We confirm the booking once we have checked the location, date, duration, subject and any documents needed for preparation.

Credentialing of an Armenian document for international use

Check Apostille requirements separately from translation requirements. Some authorities ask for the original to be legalised before it is translated; others accept a different order. Before placing your order, confirm the receiving authority’s instructions and read our Apostille guide.

What we check before confirming the Armenian translation

Your quote clearly sets out the scope, source and target languages, certification, total price, deadline and delivery arrangements. For these documents, we pay particular attention to the Armenian script, the eastern or western variant, and the coincidence of the name with the passport.

Armenian translation price estimate after document review

For Armenian, document translation and interpreting are priced differently. Translation costs depend on the length and complexity of the document, legibility, stamps, certification and deadline. Interpreting costs depend on the duration, location, preparation and any travel required. We make the offer according to the actual scope, the necessary specialist review, certification and delivery method. For larger projects, it is possible to agree on phased delivery and terminology guidelines. We pay particular attention to the Armenian script, the eastern or western variant, and the matching of the name with the passport.
