Business and legal documents
Contract translation for official and business use
A contract governs a legal relationship, such as employment, a sale, a lease, business cooperation or the provision of services. Translation must preserve the meaning of every clause, defined term, deadline, amount and reference to an annex.

When is it used in Croatia?
A foreign contract is translated into Croatian when it needs to be understood, signed or submitted to a Croatian court, notary, bank or another recipient. Certification depends on the procedure and the recipientโs requirements.
When is it used abroad?
A Croatian contract may be translated for an overseas employer, business partner, bank or competent authority. Before starting, check whether the recipient accepts a Croatian court interpreter or requires another form of certification.
When might you need this document translated?
- An employment contract for a job application or evidence of employment.
- A sale and purchase agreement for a cross-border transaction.
- A lease used as evidence of the right to use premises.
- A business contract with schedules, amendments and technical specifications.
When do you need a certified translation?
A specialist non-certified translation may be sufficient for negotiations. A court interpreter certifies the translation when required by the recipient or procedure. Translation does not replace legal review of the contract or authentication of signatures.
What should you send us?
Send the final contract, all amendments and annexes, and guidance on company names and previously agreed terminology.
Inovatus works with court interpreters to provide certified translations. Before we start, we agree the languages, scope, deadline and delivery or collection arrangements. To request a quote, tell us where you will submit the document and share any instructions you have received.
Which languages do we work with?
Choose a language to find out about translation and certification. We will agree how to deliver your certified translation once we have reviewed the document and its intended use.
