Marriage certificate translation for official use
A marriage certificate or marriage register extract records a marriage. It contains details of the spouses, the date and place of marriage, and any notes. It is different from a certificate of single status.
When is it used in Croatia?
A foreign marriage certificate may be translated to register a marriage in Croatian records, update personal information or complete another procedure. The competent authority determines the form it accepts.
When is it used abroad?
A Croatian marriage certificate may be needed to prove marital status, for family procedures or personal records abroad. Before ordering, check whether a multilingual document or form is accepted without further translation.

When do you need a certified translation?
A court interpreter certifies the translation if required by the recipient. Separately check whether an apostille or another form of legalisation is needed. Simplified rules for certain public documents within the EU may affect the documents required.
